An organization that acts as a liaison between the community and the Library; helps to extend and improve local library services; and stimulates public support of the Library.
The Newark Library League was founded in 1989 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation. It is organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes. The specific purposes for which the corporation is organized include, but are not limited to: providing education to the general public regarding public library services and programs available at the Newark Library, and developing and maintaining a network of general public support for the Newark Library and its programs. The incorporating members were: Susan Johnson, Dorothy Cheu, Alan Nagy, Trudy del Gaizo and Albert Jones.
The location of meetings and programs run by the Newark Library League is at the Newark Library. The Newark Library is located at 37055 Newark Blvd, Newark, CA, 94560.

Newark Mayor Emeritus Alan L. Nagy is a founding member of the Newark Library League and is a member of several non-profit organizations in Newark and the Tri-Cities. In his professional life, he was employed by SRI International (Stanford Research Institute) as a Project Manager and as a Director of MIS. He retired from SRI in 2016 and recently retired from public service after spending 42 years in elective office. He was Newarkâs Volunteer of the Year in 2009. He believes that community service is one of the best works of life!
