An organization that acts as a liaison between the community and the Library; helps to extend and improve local library services; and stimulates public support of the Library.

The Newark Library League was founded in 1989 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation. It is organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes. The specific purposes for which the corporation is organized include, but are not limited to: providing education to the general public regarding public library services and programs available at the Newark Library, and developing and maintaining a network of general public support for the Newark Library and its programs. The incorporating members were: Susan Johnson, Dorothy Cheu, Alan Nagy, Trudy del Gaizo and Albert Jones.
